Silicon Border Nominated For Prestigious Award at Intersolar Munich
Silicon Border to compete with top manufacturing facilities for esteemed award
SAN DIEGO (May 26, 2009) -
Silicon Border, a science and technology park located in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, has been nominated for “Best Region for Manufacturing Solar Technologies” by the organizers of the International Solar Technology Awards.
The award nomination comes on the heels of Silicon Border completing phase one of its infrastructure manufacturing development targeted for green technology companies.
Nominated in the category with Silicon Border is, Solar Valley and the State of Oregon. The winner of the award ceremony will be announced later this week at Intersolar Munich in Germany.
“We are very excited and deeply humbled to be nominated for this award,” said DJ Hill, president and CEO, Silicon Border. “Silicon Border is a visionary company and we are confident that as we continue to grow our science park will be one of the premiere locations for solar companies to locate in North America.”
Mexico offers a number of advantages for companies interested in locating to the region: low operating costs; tax incentives; preferences under the North American Free Trade Agreement and other trade pacts; and close proximity to potential customers in the United States.
Silicon Border has announced its first tenant and plans to make announcements regarding additional tenants in the months ahead.
