Malin Burnham, Chairman

 

Malin Burnham is vice chairman of Cushman Wakefield Real Estate and Trustee of the Burnham Institute for Medical Research. For more than 50 years, he has been a leader in real estate and community developments in San Diego. He is also presently involved in the San Diego Hall of Champions, UCSD Foundation, Rady School of Management, San Diego Economic Development Corporation, and many others. He has been an active board member of 16 major corporations. He has chaired nine major non-profits and co-founded 14 organizations, most providing direct benefit to San Diego. He has received numerous awards and honors, some of which include: Philanthropist of the Year, National Society of Fund Raising Executives, Civic Entrepreneur of the Year, Junior Achievement/San Diego Business Hall of Fame and Alexis de Tocqueville Society. In the world of sports, Burnham is the former partner/owner of the San Diego Padres and recognized skipper who played a prominent role in funding the STARS & STRIPES campaign, winning the America’s Cup and bringing this historic race to San Diego. He is the former chairman of the Kyoto Symposium in San Diego. The Kyoto Prize is similar to the Nobel Prize and has been awarded since 1985. Burnham earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University.

 

 

Eugenio Elorduy

 

Eugenio Elorduy is the former Governor of Baja California. He is lifetime national board member of the Partido Acción Nacional or National Action Party (PAN). Elorduy began his political career as Secretary of Finance in the first PAN state government in Mexico; followed as Mayor of Mexicali (state capital of Baja California). He is the founding member of Mexicali’s Economic Development Council, former National President of the Ford Dealers Association and past President of Mexicali’s Employers Association. Elorduy is a board member of CETYS University of Baja California. He serves on the task force for “Rethinking the Mexico-U.S. Border,” by the Pacific Council on International Policy. Elorduy graduated with honors from the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (Monterrey Tech) in Business Administration.

 

 

Ed Guiles

 

Ed Guiles was chairman of the San Diego Gas & Electric Company (SDG&E) and Southern California Gas Company (Sempra Energy). He held a variety of management positions during his tenure with SDG&E including engineering, power plant management, natural gas operations, customer service and business planning. Since 2008, he has been a director of the California Water Service Group. He is also a director of the Cubic Corporation. In the community, Guiles currently serves as member of the board of California Chamber of Commerce. He is the former director of the San Diego County YMCA and a former member of the Los Angeles World Affairs Council. Most recently, he was tapped to serve on the task force for “Rethinking the Mexico-U.S. Border,” by the Pacific Council on International Policy. Guiles earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Arizona and is a graduate of USC Executive Program and Edison Electric Institute.

 

 

Jodi Shelton

 

Jodi Shelton has combined her expertise to build an integrated communications agency into one that is recognized and ranked among the nation’s most prestigious. In addition to serving as president and CEO of Shelton Group, she is the co-founder and president of Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA). Shelton was instrumental in the creation of the Alliance and has continuously addressed global issues in the industry as the voice of its members. Under her leadership, GSA has grown its membership to include companies throughout the supply chain representing 25 countries across the globe. Shelton is a frequent speaker at financial and industry events and has authored numerous articles for industry and business publications. She is an active leader within her community and contributing her time, resources and capital for numerous charitable and civic projects such as Girls, Inc. and Habitat for Humanity. Shelton earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from San Diego State and her master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Houston.

 

 

Fernando Maiz

 

Fernando Maiz is the CEO of Maiz Edifications SA CV (Maiz). Maiz is a design/build construction company that specializes in utility scale power plants, water treatment plants and roadways. The company also builds high rise commercial buildings and all types of manufacturing plants including those with clean rooms and facilities for process driven manufacturing. He serves as a national advisor for The Mexican Chamber of Construction Industry. He is also a member of Adelaida Lafon Patronage of Christus Muguerza Hospital in Monterrey, Mexico. The hospital is focused on providing the best possible healthcare to those in need. Maiz has served as president of Sustainable Agenda in Garza Garcia, Monterrey Mexico and EcoSync, the first companies in Monterrey, Mexico to raise awareness of environmental concerns and care for the environment. He was also the president of the Canadian Chamber and is still an active member. Maiz earned his MBA from IPADE Institute.
