
Federal Government of Mexico From the Office of the President to several his cabinet positions, the Federal Government of Mexico has provided continuing support of the Silicon Border Vision. Investing in its future, the Federal Government of Mexico provided grant money to Silicon Border Development to help launch the vision. They have both lead and participated in many discussions with potential clients, using its trade ambassadors to help open doors to companies in Southeast Asia. The Hacienda, Mexico's equivalent to the IRS, has worked to provide tax incentives that rival those of Southeast Asia in order to attract major technology companies to Mexico. Back in 2004, then President Fox met with key members of technology companies to learn what Mexico must do to bring these companies to Mexico. He ended the meeting with "Let me make you an offer you can't refuse". Now President Calderon has picked up the challenge to bring more high technology companies to Mexico. State of Baja California The Government of the State of Baja California has be critically involved in the joint market efforts and providing grants to Silicon Border Development. They have been active along with the Federal Government of Mexico in helping to identify and pursue clients for Silicon Border Science Park which has included incentive packages tailored to potential clients. UNITED STATES State of California Understanding the growth of the Imperial Valley and the effect Silicon Border Science Park will have on growth in that region, Governor Schwarzenegger and his staff have stayed involved in the information flow from Silicon Border and what California will need for infrastructure and education in the Imperial Valley to support the growth boom. Other local government entities such as the region city mayoral and county supervisors have met with Silicon Border on several occasions to gather needed information to supplement their growth projections. In 2005, after meeting with Governor Elorduy of Baja California, Governor Swartzenegger formed the California-Baja California Task Group to meet regularly to discuss cross border issues.
