California and Baja California launch Silicon
    Border Work Groups!

On September 23, 2005, Governor Elorduy, the then Governor Baja California, Mexico
and Governor Schwarzenegger of California met to discuss cross border issues and
how the two states could work together to better the region for all.  One of the topics
discussed was Silicon Border Science Park, which is located in Mexicali on the
California Border.  The results was a joint statement of support for the project,
recognizing the economic benefit and growth of both states.  This lead to the creation
of the California/Baja California (CABC) Silicon Border Work Group to determine how
the governments and private sectors of both states could support development of
Silicon Border Science Park and the surrounding region.

Leader this work group from California is Sunne Wright McPeak, California Secretary
of Business, Transportation and Housing and for Baja California, Sergio Tagliapietra,
Baja California Secretary of Economic Development.  Meeting for the first time in
November 2005, in Sacramento, the group decided to form Work Teams in  areas in
Transportation & Infrastructure, Education and Work Force Development, Promotion
and Environment.  Regularly schedule meeting to update the group will continue to
    be announced at future date.
